Trim takes the knocks and shows every one of them, so it is prepared differently from walls — filled, sanded properly and coated in an enamel that hardens rather than staying soft. Doors come off their hinges where we can, because a door painted hanging always shows a run on the bottom rail. It is the detail that makes a room read finished even when the walls have not changed.
