Most toy mess is not a kid problem. It is a storage problem.

If every toy your child owns is on the floor, nothing gets cleaned, pieces go missing, and good toys get thrown out six months later. A 10-minute Sunday reset fixes more of that than a new storage system.

Here is the version we give parents:

1. Pull everything off the floor. One pile. Do not sort yet.

2. Three bins only. Keep / wash / retire. If a piece is missing, it goes in retire until you find it. If it cannot be cleaned, it leaves the house.

3. Wash the mouth toys. Warm water, a drop of dish soap, air-dry. Plush goes in a pillowcase on gentle if the tag allows.

4. Put back a smaller set. The rest goes in a closed bin in the closet. Swap in two weeks. Kids play more with less.

5. 60-second safety pass. Cracks, loose magnets, battery doors that will not lock, anything that fits through a toilet-paper tube for under-3s. Out.

That is it. No Pinterest labels. No 40-bin wall.
