Why most phone/laptop chargers die in under a year (and what actually fixes it)
Started Blazee after going through my third "fast charger" in 18 months. Did some digging — turns out most cheap chargers cut corners on two things: thermal management and port switching circuitry.
A few things I learned building around this:
GaN (Gallium Nitride) chips run cooler than traditional silicon, which is why GaN chargers last longer and can pack more ports into a smaller footprint without throttling.
Shared wattage matters more than max wattage. A charger advertising "100W" might drop to 20W per port the moment you plug in a second device. Always check the per-port breakdown, not just the headline number.
Cable quality kills more chargers than people realize. A cheap cable with bad shielding can cause voltage fluctuations that degrade the charger's internals over time — even if the charger itself is solid.
If you're a gamer or creator running multiple devices off one hub daily, this stuff isn't cosmetic — it's the difference between gear that lasts 3 years vs. 3 months.
