I just bumped my app's affiliate commission to 40% — here's why
Been running ChronLite (a lightweight time/habit tracking app, $9.99-$17/mo) for a few months now, and I just made a change I think more small SaaS builders should consider: bumping affiliate commissions from 30% to 40% on every referred sale.
Here's the logic. Productivity apps are a crowded space. The hardest part isn't building the product, it's getting in front of the right audience — people already engaged in habit-tracking, morning routine, and self-improvement content. Those creators already have the trust. Paying them well for a referral is cheaper and more effective than any ad spend I could put behind it.
A few things I've learned setting this up:
Recurring commission > one-time flat fee for subscription products. Affiliates stick around longer if they're earning on renewals, not just the first sale.
Write clear instructions for affiliates (positioning, target audience, what to lead with). Most affiliates won't do the homework — if you hand them the angle, conversion goes up.
Make the product actually visible/discoverable. Sounds obvious, but a hidden or unlisted product can't be found by anyone looking to promote something new.
If you're a creator in the productivity/habit-tracking space and want to check it out, ChronLite is live on Whop now with a 40% affiliate program attached. Happy to answer questions if anyone's setting up their own affiliate program and wants to compare notes.
