Generic planners fail CS students for a specific reason: the work is not a list.

You have a systems assignment due Thursday, a theory exam Friday, and a project with no intermediate deadlines that will eat the entire weekend if you ignore it until Saturday. A to-do list treats those as three equal boxes. They are not.

What actually works:

1. Put every hard deadline on a calendar first. Not tasks — dates.

2. Rank by what breaks if you skip it this week. Exams and graded checkpoints beat "work on project."

3. Give unstructured projects a fake checkpoint every 3–4 days. If you don't, they always lose to whatever is due tomorrow.

4. Study in named sessions, not "I'll start after this lab." 50 minutes on one course. Then stop.
