Here's the fix: start with layout, not aesthetics.

Before you pick a single color or piece of furniture, you need to nail three things:

1. Scale — how big is the room relative to what you want to put in it?

2. Flow — where do people actually walk through the space?

3. Focal point — what's the one thing the eye should land on first?

Once those three are locked in, color and furniture selection becomes 10x easier because you're not fighting the bones of the room.
