The 3 biggest mistakes beginners make in the gym (and what to do instead)
I've coached dozens of beginners and I see the same three mistakes every single time. If you're just starting out lifting, read this before your next session.
Mistake 1: Program hopping
You don't need a new program every 2 weeks. You need ONE solid program and 90 days of consistency. The magic is in the reps, not the novelty. Pick a program. Run it. Trust the process.
Mistake 2: Ego lifting
Nobody in the gym cares how much you bench. Drop the weight by 20%, nail the form, and you'll grow faster than the guy swinging 225 with his whole body. Controlled reps build muscle. Sloppy reps build injuries.
Mistake 3: Ignoring nutrition
You can't out-train a bad diet. You don't need to be perfect — just hit your protein target (0.8-1g per pound of bodyweight) and eat in a slight deficit if fat loss is the goal. That alone will change everything.
I built Iron Blueprint specifically for beginners who want to stop guessing and start making real progress. Structured programs, coaching, and a community that keeps you accountable.
