I Spent $0 on Supplements for 6 Months. Here's What Happened.

The supplement industry is a $50 billion scam built on insecurity.

I cut every supplement except creatine and vitamin D for 6 months. Results:

  • Strength: Continued going up. Zero change in progression.

  • Energy: Actually improved. Turns out eating real food and sleeping enough does more than any pre-workout.

  • Body composition: No difference. None.

  • Money saved: ~$150/month

Here's what the supplement industry doesn't want you to know:

If your training, nutrition, and sleep are dialed in, supplements add maybe 2-3% benefit. That's it. And most people's training, nutrition, and sleep are NOT dialed in — which means supplements are doing literally nothing for them.

The only supplements with strong evidence:

  • Creatine monohydrate — 5g daily. Proven for decades. Cheap.

  • Vitamin D — if you don't get regular sun exposure

  • Magnesium — most people are deficient, helps sleep

  • Protein powder — only if you can't hit protein targets through food

Everything else — BCAAs, fat burners, test boosters, greens powders — is marketing.

Spend that $150/month on better food instead. Your results will improve more from eating quality protein sources and vegetables than from any stack of pills.

The IronMind community is built on principles that actually work, not products that sell. If you're tired of being marketed to and want real information, this is the place.

Your Training Program Is Trash If It Doesn't Have This

Hot take: 90% of workout programs on the internet are designed to look impressive, not to produce results.

Here's the one non-negotiable every real training program needs: progressive overload tracking.

If you can't answer "Am I lifting more than I was 4 weeks ago?" with a clear yes, your program isn't working.

The best programs in the world are boring. They're built on:

  1. Compound movements — Squat, bench, deadlift, overhead press, rows. Everything else is accessory.

  2. A clear progression model — You need to know exactly how weight increases week to week.

  3. Planned deloads — Your body doesn't grow in the gym. It grows during recovery. Every 4th week should be lighter.

  4. Volume management — 10-20 hard sets per muscle group per week. More isn't better past a point.

Stop doing "arm day" and "chest day" and "whatever I feel like" day.

Pick a proven system. Run it for 12 weeks minimum. Track every set. Increase the weight systematically.

That's how people who are actually strong got strong. No shortcuts. No hacks. Just progressive overload applied consistently over time.

Inside IronMind, we hand you the exact system and hold you accountable to running it. That's the difference between knowing what to do and actually doing it.

The Cold Shower Protocol That Changed Everything

I've been doing cold exposure every morning for 14 months straight. Here's what actually happened:

Month 1: Hated every second. Almost quit 12 times. Started with 30 seconds and worked up to 2 minutes.

Month 3: Stopped dreading it. The resistance voice got quieter. Started noticing I was making harder decisions throughout the day with less hesitation.

Month 6: Recovery between training sessions improved noticeably. Inflammation went down. Sleep got deeper.

Month 12: It's not even a challenge anymore. It's just what I do. And that's the whole point — the practice of doing uncomfortable things until they become normal.

The cold isn't magic. What's magic is training yourself to override your own resistance. Every morning you step into cold water, you're practicing the same skill you need to:

  • Hit the gym when you don't feel like it

  • Say no to junk food when everyone else is eating it

  • Wake up early when your bed feels incredible

Discipline transfers. That's the principle IronMind is built on.

Start with 30 seconds tomorrow morning. Just cold water at the end of your shower. Do it for 7 days straight and tell me you don't feel different.

Why Most People Will Never Be Strong (And How to Fix It)

Strength isn't about genetics. It's about systems.

The average person walks into a gym, does random exercises they saw on TikTok, eats whatever's convenient, and wonders why nothing changes after 6 months.

Here's the truth nobody wants to hear:

You don't need motivation. You need a protocol.

The strongest people in any gym aren't more talented than you. They just:

  • Follow a structured progressive overload program

  • Eat enough protein consistently

  • Sleep 7+ hours every single night

  • Show up on days they don't feel like it

That's literally it. No secret supplements. No optimal training split debate. Just boring consistency applied to proven principles.

I built IronMind because I was tired of watching people waste years in the gym with no direction. Inside, we run proven training systems, accountability groups, and daily mindset frameworks that actually produce results.

If you're serious about getting strong — not "gym selfie" strong, but actually strong — this is where you start.
