The 3 training mistakes killing your gains (and what to do instead)

Most people in the gym work hard but don't see results. After years of training and coaching, here are the 3 biggest mistakes I see:

1. No progressive overload tracking

If you're not writing down your lifts, you're guessing. You don't need a fancy app — just track your sets, reps, and weight. Add a rep or 2.5lbs every week. That's how strength is built.

2. Skipping compound movements for isolation work

Curls are fun. But if you're not squatting, pressing, and pulling heavy, you're leaving 80% of your gains on the table. Build your program around the big lifts first.

3. Ignoring recovery

Training breaks you down. Sleep, nutrition, and rest days build you back up. If you're sleeping 5 hours and eating like garbage, no program will save you.

The fix is simple: track your lifts, prioritize compounds, and recover like your results depend on it — because they do.

I built IronMind Fitness as a free community where we hold each other accountable on all of this. Come through if you're serious about training.
