The remote job search is broken — here's what actually works
Most people searching for remote jobs are doing it wrong.
They're scrolling LinkedIn for hours, applying to 50 jobs a day on Indeed, and getting ghosted. Meanwhile, the best remote positions get filled through niche job boards, direct company pages, and curated lists that most people never see.
Here's what I've learned curating remote jobs:
1. The big job boards are pay-to-play — for employers.
Companies pay thousands to post on Indeed/LinkedIn. Startups and small companies with the best remote roles? They post on smaller, niche boards.
2. "Remote" doesn't always mean remote.
At least 30% of "remote" listings on major boards are actually hybrid or "remote until we change our mind." We filter these out.
3. Speed matters.
The best remote jobs get 200+ applications in the first 48 hours. If you're seeing a listing that's been up for 2 weeks, it's probably already filled.
4. Your resume needs to speak "remote."
Employers hiring remotely want to see: self-management, async communication skills, and results without supervision. Generic resumes get filtered out.
We post vetted remote listings daily inside Jobs Remotely — real positions from companies that are actually hiring remote workers. For less than a coffee.
