I blew my first account in 3 weeks. Here's what I learned so you don't have to.
1. Options decay — and fast.
Most beginners buy weekly calls because they're cheap. But time decay (theta) eats your position alive if the stock doesn't move in your favor quickly. Start with monthlies or LEAPs. Give yourself time to be right.
2. Position sizing matters more than the trade.
The best setup in the world doesn't matter if you bet 50% of your account on it. I keep every position at 2-5% max. Boring? Maybe. But I'm still here — most people who started when I did aren't.
3. Having a plan beats having a prediction.
Know your entry. Know your exit. Know your stop loss BEFORE you enter. If you're staring at a chart wondering "should I sell?" — you didn't have a plan.
Trading isn't gambling if you treat it like a skill. It takes time, discipline, and the right environment to learn.
That's what I'm building at Market Edge — a community for beginners who want to actually learn, not just chase tickers. Real alerts, real breakdowns, no hype.
