Book 4 is the Black Fire Doctrine — the Archive's investigation into the origin and purpose of the phenomenon the series is named after. The Dragon King Era didn't create it. The Leviathan Protocol didn't control it. Both were built around something that was already there.

The Black Fire is not a weapon. It is not a symbol. The Kingdom of Ivan outlawed discussion of it entirely — not because it's dangerous, but because understanding it destroys the narrative they've spent four centuries constructing.

Book 4 contains the Archive's most complete record of what the Black Fire is, where it comes from, and why every major event in Books 1 through 3 was downstream of it.
