Why most traders lose money on options (and how to fix it)
I've been trading options for years and I see the same mistakes over and over:
1. Buying weeklies with no plan. You're gambling, not trading. If you don't have a thesis for why a stock moves in your timeframe, you're donating to market makers.
2. Ignoring Greeks entirely. Theta decay isn't something you "deal with later." If you're holding options overnight without understanding how time works against you, you've already lost.
3. Position sizing like a degenerate. Putting 50% of your account in a single options play is how you blow up. I keep individual positions under 5% of my account. Every time.
4. No exit plan. "I'll know when to sell" — no you won't. Set your targets and stops before you enter. The emotional you mid-trade is not the rational you.
The fix is boring: Trade smaller, understand your Greeks, have a plan before you enter, and cut losers fast. The traders who last aren't the ones hitting home runs — they're the ones who don't blow up.
I break down real setups daily inside King's Trading Hub. Options and futures, with actual entries and reasoning — not just "buy calls." If you're serious about leveling up, come join.
