What is calorie banking… and when is it useful?

Calorie banking is when you purposely eat less calories than you’re allowed to beforehand so that you can go over on calories on a special occasion.

For example, if your daily calories are 2400 and you know that you’re going to a buffet with your family on Saturday, you can eat 2200 calories daily the week before so that you have 1000 (200x5) calories in reserve for when you go to the buffet.

Since your deficit is larger throughout the week, it will offset the extra calories that you eat on Saturday.

This is a great way to prepare for a special occasion!

Here’s my entire supplement stack for recovery and performance 💊

Omega 3 Fish Oils:

  • Heart & eye health

  • Reduced inflammation

(look for a combined DHA + EPA of ~1250mg

Vitamin C:

  • Immune system support

  • Collagen synthesis

(I take 100mg daily)

B Complex:

  • Mood regulation

  • Red blood cell production

Vitamin D + K2:

  • Calcium absorption

  • Gut health

Magnesium Glycinate ‼️:

  • Sleep support

  • Muscle relaxation

If you aren’t taking these, you’re stalling your recovery.

Shoulder was feeling sore after a tetanus shot so I had to take it a little bit easier. 245x5 on bench though 🎉

I made a free community to help people be more active and recover faster. Fitness should be about longevity, not one time PRs

Why 'just go to the gym bro' is bad advice for college students

Most fitness advice targeted at students is either bro-science copy-pasted from a bodybuilding forum, or a generic app that has no idea you're running on 5 hours of sleep and a dining hall meal plan.

Here's what actually matters for a student body, in order:

1. Recovery is the lever nobody pulls. You can't out-train a 5-hour sleep schedule and finals-week stress. If your program doesn't account for recovery, it's not a program — it's a countdown to burnout or injury. This is the first thing we fix with every new member, before we touch a single set/rep scheme.

2. Training has to survive a chaotic schedule. A 90-minute "optimal" split is useless if you skip it every time midterms hit. We'd rather give you a 3-day, 45-minute plan you'll actually run for a semester than a "perfect" plan you'll quit in 10 days.

3. Nutrition has to work with a dining hall, not against it. Obsessive tracking doesn't survive a swipe-card meal plan and a $40/week budget. Simple defaults > perfect macros.

4. Generic > personalized is backwards. Your schedule, your gym access, your sleep, and your stress are not the same as the person next to you. A template ignores that. That's the whole reason personalization is the center of what we do, not an upsell.

If you're a student trying to train without wrecking yourself — that's exactly who Kinna Active is built for. Train smarter. Together.
