Why most version control tools are overkill for solo devs

If you're a solo developer, you probably don't need 90% of what Git offers.

You don't need cherry-picking. You don't need interactive rebasing. You don't need to understand the reflog to undo a mistake.

What you actually need:

  • Save your work so you don't lose it

  • Go back in time when something breaks

  • Branch when you want to try something risky

  • Merge when it works out

That's what Kit does. Four commands. No staging area, no detached HEAD states, no cryptic error messages.

Version control should feel like saving a game — not operating a spaceship.

Built Kit because I was tired of Googling "how to undo last git commit" for the 400th time. If that resonates, check it out.
