The 5 KPIs Every Fitness Coach Should Track (But Most Don't)
Most fitness coaches are flying blind. They know their client count and maybe their revenue, but that's it. Here are the 5 numbers that actually tell you if your coaching business is healthy:
1. Client Retention Rate
Not just how many clients you have — how many you KEEP month over month. If you're below 80%, you have a delivery problem, not a marketing problem.
2. Revenue Per Client
Total revenue ÷ active clients. This tells you if you're undercharging or if your upsell game is weak. Most coaches leave 40-60% of potential revenue on the table.
3. Lead-to-Client Conversion Rate
How many of your inquiries actually become paying clients? If it's under 30%, your sales process needs work. Track this weekly.
4. Session Attendance Rate
Clients who show up get results. Clients who get results stay. This is your leading indicator for retention — if attendance drops, cancellations follow 2-4 weeks later.
5. Cost Per Acquisition
How much are you spending (time + money) to land each new client? Most coaches have no idea. Once you know this number, you can scale what works and kill what doesn't.
I built a dashboard that tracks all of this automatically. If you're tired of guessing and want to run your fitness business by the numbers, Built by KPIs is free to join.
