The one thing ruining your morning coffee

Most people mess up their coffee before they even start brewing.

It's not the beans. It's not the machine. It's the water temperature.

If you're pouring boiling water straight off the kettle onto your grounds, you're scorching the coffee and extracting all the bitter compounds first. The result? That harsh, burnt taste people try to mask with milk and sugar.

The fix is dead simple: let your water cool for 30-60 seconds after boiling. You're aiming for 90-96°C (195-205°F). That's the sweet spot where you extract the sugars and oils without pulling out the harsh stuff.

Try it tomorrow morning with whatever setup you have. Same beans, same grind, just cooler water. You'll taste the difference immediately.

If you want to go deeper on brewing technique, bean sourcing, and building a proper home setup — that's what we talk about inside The Daily Grind every day.
