The 3 Things Holding Most Jumpers Back (And How to Fix Them)
After 20+ years of coaching long and triple jump, I've seen thousands of athletes make the same mistakes. Here are the three biggest ones:
1. You're sprinting into the board, not running into a jump.
Your approach isn't a 100m dash. It's a controlled acceleration into a takeoff. Most athletes run too fast too early and have zero control at the board. Fix: Build your speed gradually. Your last 4 steps should be your fastest AND most controlled.
2. You're training hard, not training smart.
Doing 50 jumps in practice doesn't make you better — it makes you tired. Quality reps with intention beat volume every single time. If you can't tell me WHY you're doing a drill, you shouldn't be doing it.
3. You don't have a system.
Random YouTube drills won't get you to the next level. You need structured training cycles — base phase, competition phase, peak phase. Each one builds on the last.
I built the LEAP Squad Virtual Team to solve all three of these. Elite coaching, structured training, and a system that's sent dozens of athletes to compete at the college level.
If you're ready to stop guessing and start building, the Virtual Team is open.
