3 Things I Wish Someone Told Me Before I Started Dancing
I've taught hundreds of complete beginners, and these are the three things that would've saved me years of frustration:
1. You don't need rhythm to start
Seriously. Rhythm is a skill, not a talent. Every single person I've worked with who thought they "couldn't dance" proved themselves wrong within a few weeks. Your body already knows how to move — you just need someone to show you how to unlock it.
2. The mirror is your best teacher
When you practice, dance in front of a mirror (or record yourself on your phone). It feels awkward at first, but the gap between what your body thinks it's doing and what it's actually doing is where all the growth happens.
3. Consistency beats intensity — every time
15 minutes a day beats a 2-hour session once a week. Your muscles need repetition, not marathons. The people who progress fastest in my course are the ones who practice a little bit every single day.
