3 things that give away a fake sneaker or watch before you even check the stitching

After reviewing hundreds of authentication requests, the fakes almost always get caught on the same few details — before anyone even looks at stitching or serial numbers.

  1. Box weight and smell. Real luxury boxes are heavier than you'd expect and don't smell like fresh glue or plastic. Cheap replicas cut corners on materials you can't see in photos but can feel immediately in hand.

  1. Font consistency. Counterfeiters nail the logo shape but almost always get the font weight or letter spacing on tags, boxes, or warranty cards slightly wrong. Compare against an official reference image side by side, not from memory.

  1. Too-clean everything. A watch that changed hands with zero micro-scratches, or a 'deadstock' sneaker with a suspiciously pristine insole after supposedly sitting in a closet for years, is a flag. Real wear patterns are hard to fake convincingly.
