How I Went From 0 to a LinkedIn Personal Brand That Generates Inbound — The System
Most people treat LinkedIn like a resume site.
That's why most people get zero results from it.
The ones building real personal brands — generating inbound leads, speaking opportunities, and revenue — they treat LinkedIn like a publishing platform.
Here's the difference:
Resume LinkedIn: Profile optimized, post occasionally when inspired, hope someone notices.
Brand LinkedIn: Strategic positioning, consistent content system, intentional audience building.
I spent the last 2 years studying what separates LinkedIn creators with 10K+ engaged followers from people posting into the void.
Here's what I found:
1. Your headline isn't about your job title.
It's about who you help and what outcome you deliver. "VP of Marketing" is a title. "I help B2B founders turn LinkedIn into a lead engine" is a brand.
2. Story posts > tip posts.
Every time.
A well-told 200-word story about a failure, a pivot, or a hard lesson will outperform a beautifully designed carousel with 10 tactical tips.
Because people don't share information. They share feelings.
3. Carousels are the highest-leverage content format — when done right.
The problem is 90% of carousels are: generic topic, weak slide 1, too much text, no CTA.
The fix: hook slide that stops the scroll, one idea per slide, design that guides the eye, a final slide with a single action.
4. Consistency wins. Always.
3 posts per week for 90 days will outperform one viral post followed by 3 weeks of silence.
The algorithm rewards creators who stick around.
5. The DM is where conversion happens.
LinkedIn grows the audience.
But the relationship — and the revenue — comes from what happens after someone engages with your content.
