Most people who bet on sports don't lose because they pick wrong — they lose because they manage money wrong.
I blew through thousands before I figured this out. Here are the 3 rules that changed everything for me:
Doesn't matter how confident you are. The math doesn't care about your feelings. If your bankroll is $1,000, your max bet is $30. Period.
Why? Because even the best systems hit cold streaks. If you're betting 10-20% per play, one bad week wipes you out. At 1-3%, you survive the variance and let the edge compound.
I set mine at 10% of my bankroll. If I'm down $100 on a $1,000 bankroll, I'm done for the week. No revenge bets. No "I'll make it back tonight."
The moment you chase losses, you're gambling. The moment you walk away, you're investing.
If you're not tracking, you're guessing. I log every play — the line, the unit size, the result. After 30 days, you can actually see what's working and what's not.
Most people skip this because it's not exciting. That's exactly why most people lose.

Sports betting isn't about hitting one big parlay. It's about discipline, process, and small edges that compound over time.
If you treat it like a system instead of entertainment, the results follow.
