I've designed logos for dozens of startups and small businesses. The #1 mistake I see? Overcomplicating it.
Here's what actually works:
Keep it to 2 colors max. Your logo needs to work on a business card, a website favicon, and a billboard. More colors = more problems.
Skip the trends. That gradient style everyone's using right now? It'll look dated in 18 months. Clean, simple shapes last decades.
Test it in black and white first. If your logo doesn't work without color, the design is weak. Color should enhance, not carry.
Make it ownable. Your logo should pass the "squint test" — if someone squints at it, can they still tell it's YOUR brand? If it looks like everyone else in your industry, start over.
I build logos for small businesses and startups at Aakash Agency. $15, fast turnaround, and I don't stop until you love it.
