Why reselling in NZ is different (and how to actually win at it)
Been running resell communities since 2019, and one thing people get wrong when they start in New Zealand: copying the US/AU playbook doesn't work here.
A few things that actually matter for NZ resellers:
Stock is thinner. Fewer stores carry limited releases, so local raffles and NZ Post shipping windows matter more than bot speed.
Currency swings hit margins. Always price flips in NZD after conversion + shipping, not just the USD sticker price.
Community > tools. With a smaller market, who you know (local groups sharing raffle links, restock times) beats any cook group script.
Trade Me and Facebook Marketplace are still king for flipping locally — don't sleep on them just because StockX exists.
If you're starting out, focus on 2-3 categories max (sneakers, collectibles, whatever you know) and build relationships with local sellers before scaling up. Happy to answer questions from anyone getting started in the NZ market.
