First-time pregnancy sleep is not failure
Nobody tells you the night becomes a job.
Blood volume is up. The baby is growing while you are "off." The same hours of being awake cost more than they did last year. That is physiology, not a weak character.
What actually helps is boring:
Same lights-out most nights
Left side, pillow between the knees, one at your back
Phone out of the bed
If you are awake more than twenty minutes: bathroom, small water if your mouth is dry, back to the same position. No "just one episode."
Naps are a tool. Twenty minutes. An alarm. Do not turn a nap into a second night.
If you are gasping, snoring new, or waking with a headache — that is a clinician, not a better pillow.
I built Beforeglow inside Afterglow for first-time moms who are still pregnant: sleep, food, water on a schedule, and a calendar so the important things survive a tired brain. Afterglow stays the postpartum program. This is the before.
Not medical advice. Your clinician leads.
