The 3 mistakes I see every beginner trader make (and how to avoid them)

I've been trading for years and I've mentored dozens of beginners. The same 3 mistakes come up every single time.

1. Trading without a plan

Most beginners open a chart and just... buy. No entry criteria, no stop loss, no profit target. That's not trading β€” that's gambling. Before you enter any trade, you should know exactly when you're getting out (both if it works and if it doesn't).

2. Risking too much per trade

New traders love to go all-in. Then one bad trade wipes out weeks of gains. The pros risk 1-2% per trade, max. Boring? Maybe. But that's why they're still trading 5 years from now.

3. Chasing indicators instead of learning price action

RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands β€” beginners stack 10 indicators on a chart thinking more data = better decisions. Reality: the price chart itself tells you everything you need to know. Learn to read candles and structure first. Everything else is secondary.

If you're just getting started and want to skip the expensive mistakes, that's exactly what we teach inside Market Edge. Daily breakdowns, real trade setups, and a community of traders learning together.
