This strategy capitalizes on extreme RSI readings, utilizing them as powerful momentum signals to initiate trades. When these signals are identified, the strategy executes trades by buying or selling during a pullback to the 5 EMA (low) for long positions or the 5 EMA (high) for short positions. The exit strategy is dynamic, targeting the rolling 12-bar high or low. This rolling high/low feature is particularly effective, as it adjusts the profit target during prolonged consolidations, gradually lowering it with each new bar. The most successful trades typically unfold within 2 to 6 bars.
To manage risk, a hard stop is set based on a multiple of the ATR or a fixed tick size from the position’s average price, with both parameters adjustable through user inputs.
Designed for the 1-minute timeframe on the Nasdaq 100 (NQ), this strategy is both robust and reliable, boasting a win rate between 70% and 80%, with larger profits on winning trades. However, it is advisable to avoid signals that arise from volatility driven by economic news, as these can skew the performance.
