Price the brief in front of you. Not the one from March.

A rate card that does not move is a vanity PDF.

Followers moved. Engagement moved. This deliverable is not last deliverable. This usage is not last usage. Recalculate, then send.

A number you can explain in one sentence survives procurement. A number you “felt” does not.

Floor — walk away.

Target — quote first.

Stretch — rush, usage, or both.

If you cannot name those three before you open the email, you are negotiating from a screenshot.

Town Hall is public. Ask a pricing question in the comments. Keep it operational — no “what should I charge in general.” Paste the brief.

90-day whitelist is not a compliment. It is a second product.

Organic usage is what the post fee covers. Paid amplification, spark ads, and whitelist are a license.

If the brief says “we might boost it,” price the might. 30-day whitelist is not a rounding error. 90-day exclusivity is not “standard.” Perpetual buyout on a one-post fee is you funding their media plan.

Send two numbers:

  1. Organic, no exclusivity — the floor you will not go under.

  2. Organic + the usage they actually asked for — the number that belongs on the SOW.

If they only have budget for (1), they get (1). They do not get (2) at the (1) price because they liked your last Reel.

Comment the last usage ask you accepted for free. If you cannot remember the term, that is the leak.

Where do your live brand deals actually live?

Be honest. Not the media kit. The live conversations — the ones with money attached.

If the answer is “in my DMs,” you do not have a pipeline. You have a memory problem. Brands can feel it. You send a number you cannot defend, then you accept usage you did not price.

A desk is boring. That is the point. Write the brand, the stage, the dollar amount. Recalculate the rate against this brief, not last quarter’s screenshot.

Vote below. Then go log the three deals you are already in.

Pinned post

Your rate is not a number. It is a system.

Most creators do not undercharge because they lack confidence. They undercharge because they have no record.

A brand asks for a Reel plus two stories plus 90-day usage. You remember the last deal was “around four thousand.” You send $4,500. You feel professional. You left money on the table, and you cannot prove it, because the last deal lived in a DM thread you will never scroll back to.

Three things that actually move the number:

1. Pipeline is not a vibe.

If you cannot say, this morning, what is pitched vs contracted vs paid, you are running a hobby with invoices. Write every live conversation on a board with a dollar amount — even a rough one. The amount will get less rough.

2. Rate cards rot.

A number from Q2 is not a rate. Followers moved. Engagement moved. Usage asked this time is not the usage asked last time. Recalculate against this brief, then send. If you cannot explain the number in one sentence, the brand will pick it apart.

3. First-offer usage is where the deal dies.

Whitelisting, paid ads, perpetual, derivative cuts. That language is the price. If you accept it because you want the logo on the deck, you trained the next brand to ask for the same.

None of this requires a team. It requires a desk. Spreadsheets work until they do not. The point is not software. The point is that brand deals are a business, and businesses keep books.

If you already run deals and your books are a camera roll of screenshots, that is the gap.
