The 9pm charting trap solo NPs and therapists fall into
If you're a solo NP or therapist, the day doesn't end when the last patient leaves. It ends when the notes are done. For a lot of us that's 8:30, 9:00, sometimes later.
The usual advice is "just use AI." Most of what people paste into ChatGPT is a dump of the session and a prayer. The output sounds like a textbook, not your note. You spend 20 minutes editing it back into something you'd actually sign.
What actually works is narrower:
One template per visit type. Intake is not a follow-up is not a therapy process note.
The AI should fill your headings, not invent a new format.
You keep clinical judgment. The tool does the typing.
I built Medora around that, because I was tired of watching good clinicians burn an extra hour a night on documentation they already did in the room.
If that's your evening, you're the person this is for.
