Welcome to Iron Metabolics — Start Here

Welcome, athlete. You just made a decision that separates you from 95% of bodybuilders.

Most competitors treat conditioning as an afterthought — random treadmill sessions, copy-paste HIIT circuits from Instagram, or worse, no conditioning at all until 8 weeks out when panic sets in.

You're here because you know better.

What You're Getting

šŸŽ“ The Course — Metabolic Conditioning Workout Design is a 5-module deep dive covering everything from energy system science to building client-ready conditioning programs. Work through it sequentially — each module builds on the last.

šŸ’¬ Members Lounge — Direct access to me and your fellow members. Post form checks, ask programming questions, share wins. This is where the real coaching happens.

šŸ“‹ Updates & Resources — I'll drop new protocols, templates, and research breakdowns here regularly. Turn on notifications so you don't miss anything.

---

How to Get the Most Out of This

  1. Start the course today. Module 1 lays the foundation — don't skip it even if you think you know energy systems.

  2. Implement immediately. After each module, apply what you learned to your own training before moving on.

  3. Post in the chat. Questions, progress updates, struggles — all of it. The members who engage the most get the best results.

  4. Use the templates. I built them so you don't have to start from scratch. Download them, customize them, put them to work.

Your 1-Day Trial

You have 24 hours to explore everything. Open the course, check out the community, see the quality. If this isn't the most comprehensive metabolic conditioning resource you've ever seen, no hard feelings.

But if it is — and it will be — lock in your membership and let's get to work.

The conditioning separates the contenders from the pretenders. Let's make sure you're on the right side.

The 3 Conditioning Mistakes Destroying Your Physique (And What to Do Instead)

I've coached hundreds of bodybuilders through contest prep, and I see the same three conditioning mistakes destroy physiques every single season.

If you're leaving gains on the table — or worse, losing muscle during your cut — one of these is probably why.

---

Mistake #1: Treating All Cardio the Same

The problem: You do 45 minutes on the StairMaster at the same pace every session and call it "conditioning."

That's not conditioning. That's existing on a machine.

True metabolic conditioning targets specific energy systems with specific work-to-rest ratios. Your body has three energy systems — phosphagen, glycolytic, and oxidative — and each one responds to different stimulus.

The fix: Match your conditioning format to your goal:

  • Fat oxidation → Zone 2 steady-state, 130-150 BPM, 20-40 min

  • Metabolic capacity → Circuits with 1:1 work-to-rest, 6-15 min blocks

  • Peak power output → True intervals, 1:3-1:5 work-to-rest, maximal effort

Most bodybuilders need all three across a training week — not just one on repeat.

---

Mistake #2: Choosing Exercises That Compete With Your Lifting

The problem: You do barbell lunges, heavy kettlebell swings, and box jumps as "conditioning" the day before leg day, then wonder why your squat is tanking.

Conditioning exercises create mechanical stress AND metabolic stress. If you pick movements with high eccentric demand (lunges, jumps, running), you're accumulating muscle damage that directly interferes with hypertrophy training.

The fix: Use low-eccentric, high-metabolic exercises for conditioning:

  • Battle ropes

  • Assault bike / rower / ski erg

  • Sled pushes (concentric only)

  • Med ball slams

  • Swimming

These crush your cardiovascular system without destroying your muscles. Your legs recover. Your lifts stay strong. You still burn fat.

---

Mistake #3: Adding Conditioning Volume Linearly Through Prep

The problem: Week 1 you do 2 sessions. Week 4 you do 3. Week 8 you do 5. Week 12 you're doing conditioning twice a day and you look like a marathon runner.

Linear volume increases ignore a critical reality: as your caloric deficit deepens, your recovery capacity drops. Adding more conditioning when you're already under-recovered doesn't burn more fat — it burns muscle.

The fix: Use undulating periodization for conditioning volume:

  • Weeks 1-4: Build a conditioning base (3 sessions/week)

  • Weeks 5-8: Peak conditioning volume (4-5 sessions/week)

  • Weeks 9-12: Reduce volume, increase intensity of remaining sessions

  • Peak week: Minimal conditioning — flush sessions only

Your deepest deficit weeks should have your lowest conditioning volume, not your highest.

---

The Bottom Line

Conditioning isn't just "doing cardio." It's a programmable training variable with the same precision as your hypertrophy work — specific exercises, specific energy systems, specific periodization.

Get it right and you walk on stage full, hard, and peeled.

Get it wrong and you're flat, soft, and wondering what happened to the muscle you spent all off-season building.

I teach the complete system inside Iron Metabolics. Energy systems, circuit design, periodization, contest prep protocols — everything you need to design conditioning that burns fat without burning muscle.
