The 5 AM myth is ruining your productivity — here's what actually works

Everyone keeps telling you to wake up at 5 AM. Cold showers. Goggins mode. Grind till you die.

Here's the truth nobody talks about: the time you wake up doesn't matter. What matters is what you do in the first 90 minutes.

I spent years studying high performers — not influencers, actual people building businesses, getting stronger, and staying consistent. Here's what they all had in common:

1. They protect their first decision of the day.

No phone for the first 30 minutes. The moment you check notifications, your brain switches from creator mode to reactor mode.

2. They front-load the hard thing.

The task you're avoiding? That's your #1 priority. The thing that makes you uncomfortable is the thing that moves the needle.

3. They track one metric, not ten.

Pages written. Reps completed. Revenue generated. Pick ONE number that matters this week and ignore everything else.

4. They build systems, not motivation.

"I write 500 words before breakfast" beats "I want to write more" every single time.

5. They rest on purpose.

Burnout isn't a badge of honor. The guys who last 10+ years schedule recovery like they schedule work.

I wrote about all of this (and a lot more) in the MindForge ebook bundle. If you're serious about building discipline that sticks, it's $9.99 and it'll save you years of trial and error.
