Been playing Minecraft for years and I still see people making the same mistakes. Here are 5 more things that changed how I play:
1. Invisibility potions don't fully hide you from mobs If you're wearing armor, mobs can still see you. Full invisibility only works naked. Most people drink the potion and wonder why the skeletons still shoot them.
2. Scaffolding is the best building block nobody uses Place it going up with one hand, break the bottom and the whole stack falls. No more dirt towers or ladders. Builders who switch never go back.
3. Name tags prevent despawning — not just renaming Most people use them for jokes (Dinnerbone, jeb_). The real use is keeping rare mobs alive. Found a natural blue axolotl? Name tag immediately.
4. Boat + ice = the fastest overworld travel Blue ice under a boat is faster than an elytra at low altitude. Cheap to build, no fireworks needed, and you can AFK on it. Nether highways are overrated once you know this.
5. The debug stick is in vanilla — most players think it's a mod /give @s debug_stick in Java. Lets you cycle through block states — waterlogged slabs, fence connections, log orientations. Essential for technical builds.**
Been playing Minecraft for years and I still see people making the same mistakes. Here are 5 things that changed how I play:
1. Water bucket MLG isn't just for PvP
Keep a water bucket in your hotbar at all times. Fall damage, lava, blazes — it solves everything. Practice the timing in creative until it's muscle memory.
2. Beds in the Nether are overpowered
Beds explode in the Nether and deal massive damage. They're legitimately one of the fastest ways to kill the Ender Dragon too (end crystal phase). Cheap, effective, underused.
3. Fortune III on iron and gold ore
Since 1.17, Fortune works on iron and gold ore. Most people still smelt raw ore without thinking. Fortune III can double or triple your yield.
4. Zombie villagers are free god trades
Cure a zombie villager and their trades drop to 1 emerald. Stack this with hero of the village and you're basically playing creative mode with extra steps.
5. F3+G shows chunk borders
If you're building farms, slime chunks, or anything technical, chunk borders are essential. Most players don't even know this exists.
I started MineMeta to share stuff like this. If you want more — exclusive builds, texture packs, world downloads, and a community that actually knows the game — check it out.
