How I'd make $500 this month starting from zero

If I lost everything and had to rebuild from scratch with nothing but a phone and internet, here's exactly what I'd do:

Week 1: Quick cash ($50-100)

  • Sell 5-10 things I don't need on Facebook Marketplace

  • Sign up for 3 user testing platforms and complete tests

Week 2: Build a skill ($100-200)

  • Pick ONE service: social media management, email writing, or basic graphic design (Canva is free)

  • Create 3 sample pieces as a portfolio

  • Post on Twitter/X: "I'll do [skill] for your business for $50. First 3 clients get it for $25."

Week 3-4: Scale it ($200-300)

  • Deliver great work for those first clients

  • Ask for testimonials

  • Raise price to $75-100

  • DM 10 potential clients per day

Total: $350-600 in 30 days.

The key? Don't overthink it. Speed > perfection when you're starting out.

This is just the surface — inside The Money Lab, we go way deeper into each of these strategies with real examples and live support.

The #1 mistake beginners make when trying to make money online

They try to learn everything before doing anything.

I get it — you want to feel ready. You watch 50 YouTube videos, read 20 blog posts, save 100 bookmarks. But you never actually start.

Here's the truth: you learn by doing, not by consuming.

The person who starts a Fiverr gig today and gets their first $5 will learn more in one week than someone who spent 6 months "researching."

Action beats information every single time.

Pick ONE method. Give it 7 days of real effort. Then evaluate.

That's how every successful online earner started.

5 ways to make your first $100 online (no skills needed)

Most people overthink making money online. They think they need a course, a following, or years of experience.

They don't. Here are 5 ways you can make your first $100 this week:

1. Sell stuff you already own — Clothes, electronics, books. List them on eBay, Depop, or Facebook Marketplace. You'd be surprised what people will buy.

2. Freelance writing on Fiverr — You don't need to be Shakespeare. Businesses need blog posts, product descriptions, and emails written. Start at $5-10 per piece and build up.

3. User testing — Sites like UserTesting pay $10-60 per test to review websites and apps. You literally just share your opinion.

4. Reselling free items — Check the "free" section on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Pick up items, clean them, resell for profit.

5. Micro-tasks — Amazon Mechanical Turk, Prolific, and similar platforms pay for small tasks. Not glamorous, but it's real money.

The point isn't to get rich from these. The point is to prove to yourself that making money online is real. Once you get that first $100, everything changes.
