The biggest matchup advantage for me is Bijan Robinson. He finished with 213 total yards, including 194 rushing yards and two touchdowns, against Green Bay. Now he faces a Saints defense allowing 128.7 rushing yards per game, ranked 27th. If Atlanta establishes the run, that should help keep Penix out of obvious passing situations and create opportunities for London through play action. Bijan gives the Falcons a reliable way to move the ball without needing their quarterback to carry every possession.
New Orleansβ defensive injuries make that matchup even more attractive. Kaden Elliss, Carl Granderson and Anfernee Jennings have been ruled out, while Pete Werner is questionable. Those absences affect both the Saintsβ ability to contain Bijan and their ability to pressure Penix. Atlanta has had 11 days between games to prepare and I expect its game plan to test that depleted front early with runs, screens and short passes that force the replacements to tackle in space.
Defensively, Atlanta is allowing just 47.7 rushing yards per game, the best mark in the league through three games. Shough is still a real concern he has 917 passing yards and eight touchdowns so Iβm expecting New Orleans to have scoring opportunities.
Overall, Atlantaβs ability to limit the run gives it a chance to make the Saints more predictable. I see a competitive divisional game with a realistic path to an Atlanta win. I like the combination of Penixβs return, Bijanβs matchup and the extra preparation time.
ATL Falcons +2.5
