3 Mushrooms Every Beginner Should Grow First

If you're thinking about growing gourmet mushrooms at home, don't overthink it. Start with these three:

๐ŸŒธ Pink Oyster โ€” Fastest to fruit. Grows on coffee grounds, straw, or sawdust. You'll see pins in under a week. The flavor is bold and peppery, and they look incredible โ€” bright pink clusters that'll make you feel like a mycologist on day one.

๐Ÿ– King Oyster โ€” Thick, meaty stems that sear like scallops. More patient than pink oysters but incredibly rewarding. These are the ones that make people say "wait, you GREW that?"

๐Ÿง  Lion's Mane โ€” Looks alien, tastes like crab. Beyond the culinary flex, lion's mane is famous for potential cognitive benefits. Grows well on hardwood sawdust blocks.

All three can be grown indoors with basic equipment: a spray bottle, some substrate, and a bit of patience.

The mistake most beginners make? Trying exotic species first. Nail these three, understand humidity and airflow, and then branch out.

I've put together full step-by-step grow guides for all of these inside the Mushroom Grower's Club. Community of fellow growers included.
