Closing isn't a magic sentence.

A lot of beginners search for:

"What's the best closing technique?"

But the best close depends on the situation.

If the customer is ready:

Ask for the decision.

If they're uncertain:

Identify what's holding them back.

If stakeholders aren't aligned:

Build internal consensus.

If there's no urgency:

Understand why the problem needs to be solved now.

If the value isn't clear:

Go back to the business impact.

The close usually becomes easier when the earlier stages of the sales process were done correctly.

Great closing starts long before the closing question.

If I had to start an IT sales career from zero, I'd do this:

Step 1: Learn IT/B2B sales fundamentals.

Step 2: Learn prospecting and cold outreach.

Step 3: Practice discovery calls.

Step 4: Learn CRM basics.

Step 5: Understand SaaS and technology businesses.

Step 6: Build a strong LinkedIn profile.

Step 7: Apply for SDR/BDR/Junior Sales roles.

Step 8: Practice sales interviews.

Step 9: Track your progress and improve every week.

You don't need to know everything before applying.

You need enough knowledge to demonstrate that you can learn, communicate, prospect and sell.

That's the foundation I built IT Sales Mastery around.

Enterprise sales is a different game.

A small deal might involve:

1 buyer → 1 problem → 1 decision

A large enterprise deal can involve:

Champion → Manager → Technical Team → Security → Procurement → Finance → Executive

That's why enterprise sales requires more than a good pitch.

You need:

Stakeholder management.

Deal strategy.

Business justification.

ROI.

Internal alignment.

Strong follow-up.

The bigger the deal, the more important the process becomes.

"Your competitor is cheaper."

What would you say?

A weak response:

"But our product is better."

A better approach is to understand what is actually behind the objection.

Ask:

"Apart from price, what would you need to see to feel confident choosing the right solution?"

Now you're having a conversation instead of arguing.

Price objections can actually be about:

• Risk

• Trust

• Timing

• Value

• Internal approval

• Unclear ROI

Don't fight the objection.

Understand it first.

I break down objection handling and negotiation inside IT Sales Mastery.

Your cold email doesn't need to be complicated.

A simple structure:

1. Relevance

Why are you contacting this person?

2. Problem

What problem might they have?

3. Value

What outcome can you help create?

4. CTA

Make the next step simple.

Don't write a 500-word biography about your company.

Don't list every feature.

Don't make the prospect do all the work.

Keep it relevant.

Keep it specific.

Keep it easy to respond to.

Good prospecting is about relevance, not volume alone.

Want to build stronger prospecting and outreach skills?

5 tools modern IT salespeople should know.

You don't need 50 different tools.

But understanding the modern sales stack is extremely valuable.

A basic stack might include:

🔎 Apollo — prospecting & data

💼 LinkedIn Sales Navigator — account research

📊 HubSpot/Salesforce — CRM

🤖 ChatGPT — research & sales assistance

⚡ Zapier/Make — automation

The tools don't make you a great salesperson.

The process does.

Technology simply helps you execute that process faster.

That's why modern IT sales is becoming a combination of sales skills + technology + systems.

I cover the full process inside:

Stop trying to sell your product too early.

One of the biggest mistakes in sales is jumping straight into the pitch.

Customer:

"Tell me about your software."

Beginner salesperson:

"Absolutely! We have 47 features..."

Better approach:

"Before I show you the platform, can I understand how you're currently handling this?"

Why?

Because you can't effectively sell a solution if you don't understand the problem.

Great salespeople don't just present products.

They diagnose problems.

Discover first. Sell second.

I teach this type of practical sales framework inside IT Sales Mastery.

Your sales pipeline is not just a list of leads.

A strong IT salesperson knows exactly where every opportunity stands.

A simple pipeline can look like:

PROSPECT → QUALIFY → DISCOVER → PROPOSE → NEGOTIATE → CLOSE

The mistake beginners make is treating every lead equally.

A prospect who just showed interest isn't the same as a qualified company with an urgent problem and budget.

Learn to identify the difference.

Better pipeline management = better forecasting = better sales decisions.
