Three weeks in, the first thing that's actually real instead of theoretical is live. It took longer than planned, cost more than budgeted, and the number that surprised me was how much of the time went to things that aren't visible in the final result at all.

No polished workspace tour here — it's one notebook, half-full, with more crossed-out pages than clean ones, and a wall of sticky notes that has been rearranged four times this month because I keep changing my mind about what the first real project should be.

The honest low point: Wednesday, I sat with a blank page for two hours trying to write a mission statement that didn't sound like every other 'empire-building' pitch you've seen and rightly ignored. I didn't finish it. I'm publishing this instead, because avoiding the mission statement is also information.

What's actually true right now: no physical presence anywhere yet, no active projects generating revenue, no team beyond me. What's also true: I'm further along than I was the week before, and that's the only metric I'm committing to track publicly, every week, whether it's flattering or not.

I'm starting this in public because I don't trust myself to finish it in private. Every version of me that's tried to build something alone has quietly let it die in a notes app. So this time there's a paying, watching audience — you — and a weekly deadline I can't move.

Negat means dawn. Not because the sun is already up — it isn't. There's no team yet, no funded projects, no partnerships to point to. I chose the word because it describes a moment right before something happens, and that's an honest description of where this is.

The actual goal: build a company whose job is to found and support small businesses across Africa — first by building one myself, in public, mistakes included, then by using whatever I learn to back the next ones. Fifty-four countries, an enormous range of existing economies and trade histories, and very little of that story gets told from the inside.

So why now, with nothing built? Because 'nothing built' is the actual starting condition of everything that gets built later, and most build-in-public projects start the story after that part is over. I'd rather you saw it from here.
