Raised Right

23 million children live in single parent homes in America.

15 million of them are being raised by a mother alone.

And yet nobody gives those mothers a real roadmap.

We did.

My son walked up to me today holding something between two fingers like it was the crown jewels.

"Mom. Look what I found."

It was a dead beetle. Legs and all. He'd been carrying it for "a while" — his words, not mine, so could've been ten minutes or ten hours.

I said "wow, amazing" with the enthusiasm of a woman accepting an Oscar, because that is the job. That is the whole job.
