I've rebought the same 'durable' travel gear three times before finding stuff that actually holds up. A few things I learned the hard way, for anyone living out of a bag:

• Zippers fail before fabric does. Cheap gear rips at the zipper pull, not the seams. Check the zipper brand before anything else.

• Modular > monolithic. A big bag with no internal structure turns into a black hole. Pack cubes or built-in dividers save more time than any 'ultralight' gimmick.

• Charge once, charge everything. A single GaN multi-port charger replaced four bricks in my bag and saved real weight.

• Buy boring colors. Neutral gear ages better and doesn't scream 'tourist' in places where that matters.

I started curating a monthly box of gear that's actually passed the durability test (mine and other nomads') instead of what's trending on ads — mostly because I got tired of guessing.
