Why most candles are lying to you
That "vanilla" candle you bought from the grocery store? It's probably made with paraffin wax (a petroleum byproduct) and synthetic fragrance.
Here's what actually matters when choosing a candle:
1. Wax type ā Soy and coconut wax burn cleaner and longer than paraffin. No black soot on your walls.
2. Wick material ā Cotton or wood wicks only. Lead-core wicks still exist in cheap candles. Yes, really.
3. Fragrance load ā More isn't better. Over-fragranced candles cause headaches. A good candle fills the room at 6-8% fragrance load.
4. Burn time ā A $35 hand-poured soy candle lasts 50+ hours. That $12 candle from Target? Maybe 20.
We started Nuittime because we wanted candles designed for one purpose ā winding down at the end of the day. Every scent is crafted for the evening ritual. No filler. No shortcuts.
