The math behind losing 40lbs in 90 days

Most people overcomplicate weight loss. Here's the actual math:

40lbs in 90 days = ~3lbs/week. That's aggressive but doable for guys carrying 40+ extra pounds.

To lose 3lbs/week, you need a ~1,500 calorie daily deficit. Sounds brutal, but here's how it breaks down:

  • Diet alone: Cut 1,000 calories from your current intake. For most guys eating 2,500-3,000+, that still leaves you at 1,500-2,000/day — enough to fuel workouts and not feel like death.

  • Training: Burn 400-500 calories through a mix of lifting and cardio. That's ~45 min of real work, not scrolling your phone between sets.

  • NEAT (non-exercise activity): Walk 8,000-10,000 steps daily. This alone can burn 200-400 extra calories.

The first 10lbs will come off fast (water weight). Weeks 3-6 are where discipline matters. Weeks 7-12 is where the transformation becomes visible and the habits become automatic.

The key most people miss: you don't need motivation, you need a system. A plan you follow whether you feel like it or not.

That's exactly what I built with Operation 90.
