Most ecommerce brands don't have a traffic problem. They have an inbox problem.
If you're running a store, this is the part nobody puts in the course:
Ads can be working. Product can be fine. And you still lose the day to:
"Where's my order?"
"I want to return this"
"Wrong size / wrong color / never arrived"
Those messages don't feel like work until they stack. Then you're answering at 11pm, refunding late, and the next ad dollar goes to a customer who already hates you.
What actually moves the needle for a small brand:
1. Reply in under 2 hours during business hours. Speed beats clever copy. Most refunds happen because nobody answered.
2. One returns rule, written down. Same window, same condition, same refund vs exchange. If you decide case by case, you will lose every time.
3. Order exceptions live in a list, not in your head. Missing tracking, address changes, split shipments. If it's only in DMs, it will get missed.
4. Don't let the owner be the help desk. If you're the founder and you're still the inbox, you don't have an ops system. You have a bottleneck.
That's the work we do at Store Ops — inbox, orders, returns. Not ads. Not "growth." The unglamorous layer that keeps customers from leaving.
If your store is doing real volume and the inbox is still on you, that's the first hire. Not another VA for "whatever comes up." Someone who owns those three queues.
