Over 50% percent of people with patellar tendinitis pain feel pain again after "recovery “.

With my plan of a step by step recovery and what to do after injury for stronger knees and leaving the pain behind, the pain won’t keep occurring

Why your patellar tendonitis isn't healing (and what actually works)

Most athletes with patellar tendonitis make the same 3 mistakes:

1. Complete rest. You think resting will fix it. It won't. Tendons need progressive loading to heal — not zero stimulus. Rest makes them weaker.

2. Stretching your quads. Tight quads aren't the problem. The tendon is underloaded and can't handle the demands you're putting on it. Stretching won't change that.

3. Jumping straight back into sport. You feel 80% better and think you're good. Two weeks later it's back, worse than before.

Here's what actually works:

  • Isometric holds (45-60 sec wall sits or Spanish squats) to calm the pain down immediately

  • Heavy slow resistance training — single-leg press, step-ups, and eccentric squats at 3-4 sec tempo

  • Progressive plyometric loading before returning to sport — box jumps, drop landings, then cutting and sprinting

This isn't theory. This is the evidence-based approach used by sports physios working with professional athletes.

I built PainFREE Knees to give every athlete access to these exact protocols — with the coaching and community support to actually follow through.
