The part number trick that saves you from ordering the wrong bumper twice

Been sourcing car body parts for a while now, and the #1 mistake I see people make when ordering online: matching by year/make/model alone instead of the actual OEM part number.

Here's the thing — a 2019 Civic LX and a 2019 Civic Sport can have completely different bumper mounting points depending on trim, region, and mid-cycle refresh. Same year, same model, different part. If you order off year/make/model alone, you're gambling.

Quick way to avoid it:

  • Check your door jamb sticker or owner's manual for the actual VIN-decoded trim

  • If you can see the old part, look for a stamped or molded part number before tossing it

  • When in doubt, send a photo of the damage/part to whoever's sourcing for you — a real person cross-referencing beats a dropdown menu every time

This is basically the whole reason we started Partz R Us — most part sites make you guess, we just ask a few questions and get you the exact match. Happy to help if anyone's got a tricky one they're stuck on, drop it below.
