5 Money Rules I Wish I Learned at 18

Most of us left school knowing how to solve equations but not how to manage a paycheck. Here are 5 rules that changed everything for me:

1. Pay yourself first.

Before rent, before food, before fun β€” move 10% into savings. Even if it's $20. The habit matters more than the amount.

2. Assets > Stuff.

Rich Dad Poor Dad nailed this: assets put money IN your pocket, liabilities take it OUT. A $300/month car payment is a liability. A $300 investment in a skill that earns you money? That's an asset.

3. Your income is a starting point, not a ceiling.

A paycheck is great. But if you're not building something on the side β€” even small β€” you're leaving money on the table.

4. Debt is not normal.

Society tells you debt is "just how it works." It's not. The fastest path to financial freedom is eliminating debt and refusing to take on new ones unless they're strategic.

5. Start before you're ready.

You'll never feel "ready" to invest, budget, or start a side hustle. The best time was yesterday. The second best time is right now.

I wrote 3 short e-books that break all of this down for complete beginners β€” no jargon, no fluff. If any of this resonated, check them out πŸ‘‡
