The 3 things nobody tells you about life after sports
I've talked to hundreds of athletes going through the transition. The ones who struggled the most all hit the same 3 walls:
1. Your identity was your sport
For 10, 15, 20 years — you were "the athlete." When that's gone, the question isn't "what do I do next?" It's "who am I now?" Most people skip this and jump straight to job hunting. That's backwards.
2. Your network shrinks overnight
Teammates scatter. Coaches move on. The daily structure of practice, film, travel — gone. The loneliness hits harder than most people expect. You need to rebuild your circle intentionally.
3. Nobody taught you how to start from zero
You've been elite at something your whole life. Now you're a beginner again. That feeling of incompetence is brutal for someone used to performing at a high level. It's normal. It passes. But only if you keep moving.
Built Pathless because I kept seeing the same patterns. If you're in it right now — or about to be — you're not alone.
We're building a community of athletes who get it. Real conversations, real mentorship, real connections.
