Every smart feeder I tested before building PawSignal had the same problem: the app worked great for a week, then the WiFi module would drop, the portion sizing would drift, or the camera feed would lag 10+ seconds behind real time. For a product whose entire job is 'make sure your pet is fed and safe while you're not home,' that's not a minor bug — it's the whole point failing.

We built PawSignal around one rule: the feeder and camera have to work when your WiFi doesn't. Local scheduling is stored on-device, so a dropped connection never means a missed meal. The camera buffers locally too, so you're not staring at a spinner during the 30 seconds you actually need to check on your dog.
