Your Downloads Folder Has 500+ Files Right Now. Here's Why.

I checked my Downloads folder last month. 847 files. Screenshots from 2022. PDFs I opened once. Random .zip files I couldn't even name anymore.

Sound familiar?

Here's the thing — your OS doesn't care about organizing downloads. Everything just gets dumped into one flat folder. Over time it becomes a digital junk drawer that slows you down every time you need to find something.

The fix is dead simple. I wrote a Python script that sorts your entire Downloads folder (or any folder) into clean categories in seconds:

  • 📷 Images → /Images

  • 📄 Documents → /Documents

  • 🎬 Videos → /Videos

  • 📦 Archives → /Archives

  • 🎵 Music → /Music

  • And everything else gets handled too

No installations. No GUI. Just run one command and it's done.

I use it myself every week — takes 2 seconds and my PC stays clean without thinking about it.

If you're tired of the chaos, I packaged it up so anyone can use it.

Welcome — Here's How to Get Started

Thanks for grabbing the PC Folder Organiser script! Here's how to get up and running:

1. Download the script → Head to the "Script Download" tab and grab the .py file.

2. Run it → Open your terminal, navigate to the folder where you saved it, and run:

python organiser.py

By default it targets your Downloads folder. You can pass any directory path as an argument.

3. Customize → Open the script to tweak the sorting categories (images, docs, videos, archives, etc.) to fit your workflow.
