The 5 Most Documented Hauntings That Science Still Can't Explain

Most "haunted houses" are just old buildings with bad plumbing. But there are a handful of locations where something genuinely strange has been documented — by researchers, journalists, and sometimes the military.

I've spent years compiling firsthand accounts, cross-referencing historical records, and visiting locations myself. Here are 5 cases that still have no satisfying explanation:

1. The Enfield Poltergeist (1977) — Over 30 witnesses including police officers. Objects moved on their own. A child spoke in a voice that wasn't hers. Investigators from the Society for Psychical Research documented it for over a year.

2. The Brown Lady of Raynham Hall — Photographed in 1936 by two photographers from Country Life magazine. The image has been analyzed by experts for decades. No evidence of tampering has ever been found.

3. The Myrtles Plantation — Built on a former Tunica burial ground. At least 12 deaths on the property. Guests and staff report the same apparition independently — a woman in a green turban — across different decades.

4. Eastern State Penitentiary — Al Capone himself reported being tormented by the ghost of a victim while imprisoned there. Staff and visitors have reported cell block 12 activity consistently since the 1940s.

5. The Tower of London — Nearly 1,000 years of documented sightings. Guards, tourists, and historians have all reported encounters. Anne Boleyn's ghost has been seen so frequently they stopped filing reports.

These aren't campfire stories. They're documented, cross-verified accounts that have resisted every debunking attempt thrown at them.

If this is the kind of content that keeps you reading past midnight, my ebook collection goes much deeper — primary sources, location photographs, and the full investigation timelines that never made it into the popular retellings.
