The 3 typography rules every founder ignores (and why your landing page looks off)

Most founders obsess over copy but treat font choices as an afterthought. Here's the thing — typography is the single biggest lever for making your product look "real" vs. "side project."

Three rules that fix 90% of founder typography mistakes:

1. Stop using more than 2 typefaces.

One for headings, one for body. That's it. Inter + a geometric sans for headings covers 80% of SaaS products. The temptation to add a third "accent" font is always wrong.

2. Your line height is too tight.

Body text needs 1.5-1.7x line height. Headings need 1.1-1.3x. If your paragraphs feel "cramped" but you can't figure out why — it's this.

3. You're not using enough font weight contrast.

If your headings are 600 weight and your body is 400, there's not enough visual hierarchy. Try 700-800 for headings, 400 for body. The gap creates instant structure.

These three changes alone will make your landing page look like you hired a designer. And they take about 10 minutes.

I break down stuff like this every week inside Pixel & Type — design intelligence for founders who want their product to look as good as it works.
